With a strong focus on mental health, executive functioning, and personal growth, Cherry Gulch offers highly trained therapists and tailored interventions for boys facing issues such as ADD/ADHD, reactive attachment disorder (RAD), anxiety, depression, social challenges, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, processing disorders, learning differences, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and grief or trauma-related challenges (PTSD).

Through intensive individual counseling, animal-assisted therapy, equine therapy, and outdoor adventure therapy, students build life skills, teamwork, and confidence while healing in a safe and structured environment. By integrating therapeutic intervention with a boarding school education, Cherry Gulch empowers boys to overcome their biggest struggles, rediscover their strengths, and build a brighter future.

Resiliency Zone Learning

Families choose Cherry Gulch for our professional clinical therapy and how boys gain strength and desire to improve academics. We strive to build confidence and grow our students’ resiliency zones. We also build relationships and work together to provide early behavior and academic intervention. Cherry Gulch is dedicated to helping these young men reach their full potential, particularly through its year-round academic program, using the accredited COGNIA curriculum that covers all core subject areas, including English, Math, History, and Science. We also offer enrichment electives, including Fine Arts, Music, Life Skills, Foreign Language, Creative Writing, and Learning Strategies.

At Cherry Gulch, we also work with families through quarterly family workshops, parent education, and support groups that prepare everyone for better outcomes when boys return home.

Early Intervention
for Struggling Boys

Some boys begin to show disruptive behavior at home, becoming increasingly argumentative with their parents and creating ongoing strain within the family. These outward struggles are typically signs of deeper emotional or developmental challenges that, if left unaddressed, can escalate into more serious problems such as anti-social behavior, academic failure, or aggressive conflicts with teachers, employers, and even legal authorities. Cherry Gulch provides the structured, supportive environment needed to help redirect your boy’s path. Through expert therapy and a focus on character development, Cherry Gulch helps boys learn healthier ways to communicate, manage emotions, and build the resilience needed to thrive as they grow.

We also work with families through three-day parenting workshops presented once each quarter. Parents participate in Parent Education classes and workshops that include bonding exercises for parents and sons, family therapy sessions, corrective emotional experiences, and opportunities for building positive memories.

Our staff provides parents with weekly updates regarding their child’s progress. When therapeutically needed, family therapy sessions will be conducted via video conferencing.

We encourage parents to call their son, write to him, and visit him at the program. Parental support does not end when students leave the program as we have staff available to provide support, answer questions, and identify resources, even after students return home.
